Lime ensures a dense, green and healthy lawn by making soil and fertilizer nutrients more available to the plant. The calcium in lime neutralizes the acidity of the soil solution. Generally, lawns need one maintenance application per season to counterbalance the acidifying effect of nitrogen fertilizers. Our lime is fast-acting, granulated for easy spreading and also contains magnesium, an essential element for plants.
Lime can be applied at any time (April to November). The sooner you apply it, the sooner it will be effective! Some people apply a second application in autumn to maintain a pH between 6 and 7 (i.e. not acidic), which is ideal for lawns. Otherwise, a soil analysis will tell you exactly how much lime you need, depending on the acidity of the soil.
